The Idea Behind The Floodgate Birmingham
It’s the late 90’s / early 2000’s the clubbing scene in the UK is going strong, hands in the air not a mobile phone filming everyone’s antics in sight. The bars and clubs are full of people interacting and learning everything that their friends have done since last they met, pint in hand, smiles on faces and tunes soothing the soul.

Fast forward to 2007 and BOOM in every hand is the new replacement for the pint and face to face contact....i give you the smart phone. This new technological game changer alongside the book of faces (aka Facebook) completely overhauled how we interact with each other. Now on a Friday night we all know what each other ate for dinner on Tuesday night....so what do we talk about now? We have liked and compared all of our friends to animals and filled out one personality questionnaire after another, social media has dawned a new age concept of how we interact and the pubs and clubs have not even realised what has hit them yet.

Over the following ten years or so peoples interactions became an isolated world but no longer this will be. Activities to rally around, creating team spirit, competition, rivalry and sportsmanship or just pure unadulterated shits and giggles are now on your door step.

The once floor packed, dark, lazer driven nightclub is now a creative space for friends to play again, to reignite bonds and friendships over a pint or a more glamorous cocktail. So what activity is your poison? Crazy Golf? Go Karting? Snooker/Pool? Or Paintball??? Nahh....lets freshen it up and play something more skill full and energetic. Lets have a swing a Baseball at Bleachers batting cages. Perhaps you prefer a game with more finesse but a flight to Norway to take part is too long winded!! So lets take the ice to Birmingham and slide your way into your mates DM’s and try your hand at the Custard Factory’s latest craze of Curling at the Curl Club. If that isn’t enough the newest social sport to hit the UK is a mash up of two of our longest standing pass times Crazy Golf meets Pool. We give you a UK first... Pit Pat, 18 holes of crazy pool or table golf to navigate round.

So in a nut shell the smart phone and social media inadvertently created The Floodgate to save everyones nights out. Thank you iPhone. or Samsung (we are an inclusive venue after all)

You can enjoy all three of these fresh exciting activities on your nights out in Birmingham to the backdrop of some of the sickest graffiti Birmingham or even the Uk has to offer all while sipping on eye catching tasty cocktails or chowing down on some kick ass street food. Most importantly spending time face to face, shoulder to shoulder with your pals and loved ones. What are you waiting for? Get your night out in Birmingham planned, The Floodgate awaits.
