Here are some things to do on a budget in Birmingham:

• Visit the Birmingham Back to Backs. These are a row of 3 restored Victorian terraced houses that give you a glimpse into the lives of working-class families in the 19th century. Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
   

   
• Explore the Jewellery Quarter. This is a designated World Heritage Site and is home to over 2,000 jewellery businesses. You can wander around the streets, admiring the beautiful architecture and popping into some of the shops. There are also a number of museums and galleries in the area, including the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter and the Pen Museum.
   

   
• Go for a walk or bike ride along the canals. Birmingham is home to a network of canals that are perfect for exploring on foot or by bike. You can follow the canals to some of the city's most popular attractions, such as the Gas Street Basin and Brindleyplace. Did you know that Birmingham has more canals (by miles) than Venice? With 35 miles / 56 kilometres worth you cannot go wrong in good old Birmingham (although the weather might be better in Venice) 

• Go for a stroll around Digbeth & The Custard Factory. Digbeth has long been known as the artsy/edgy part of town. Once covered in industrial factories it is now a mash of new and old. With amazing graffiti art on every street corner, great cafes, restaurants and activity bars you will have a day (or night) to remember. While your in town grab a pizza at baked in brick, watch a movie at the mockingbird or play some games (from as little as £3) with a cold beer at The Floodgate.  Always worth a 241 visit on a Friday to get the best bang for buck. 

   

   
• Visit the Library of Birmingham. This is one of the largest libraries in the UK and is a beautiful building in its own right. There are a number of free exhibitions and events held at the library, as well as a café and a restaurant.
   

   
• See a show at the Birmingham Rep. This is one of the UK's leading repertory theatres and offers a wide range of productions, from Shakespeare to new writing. Tickets can be as low as £10.
   

   
• Enjoy a picnic in Cannon Hill Park. This is a large park in the city centre with a lake, gardens, and a playground. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
